Woo-hoo!
(from hufc.com.sg)
The match began in a tepid fashion, and it was to carry on for the duration of the whole match, where both teams surrendered possession needlessly. Lack of concentration at the 4th minute caused HUFC its first goal. Tampines Rovers mid-fielder Peres de Oliveira scored the first goal with a header from a quickly taken free kick which left HUFC keeper Lionel Lewis bewildered. A deserved equaliser in the 70th minute made up for the error. Shi Jia Yi's looping corner to the far post found Diakite to slot it in comfortably.
When it was dead locked after regulation time, the match went into penalties. HUFC custodian Lionel Lewis denied Asean's golden boy Noh Alam Shah and Tampines Rovers penalty specialist Sead Muratovic with neat saves and handed HUFC a 4-1 victory.
It was not particularly a good game for Home. However, this is the first real match that the whole squad played together, therefore there should not be much concern in terms of fluidity; things would improve as times goes on. Even before the start of the new season, it can be said that the `feel good’ factor is back. Let’s hope Home get past Woodlands and into the final.
