Home United FC opened its AFC Cup Campaign with a victory over Vietnamese Champions Binh Duong FC at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Goals from Juma'at Jantan on the stroke of half-time and Kengne Ludovick in the second half, gave our Protectors a 2-0 lead before Binh Duong's Brazilian born striker, Kesley Alves hit one back in the 74th minute.
The remaining minutes were nervy for our Home United faithful, as Binh Duong FC threatened to equalise on several occasions. Most notably Binh Duong's other Brazilian Helio Da Silva, who unleashed a volley towards goal. Lionel Lewis was beaten but Captain Marvel S.Subramani was on hand to clear the goal bound shot.
In the closing minutes, Home United could have added a third but Shi Jiayi's shot was superbly saved by the Vietnamese custodian.
3 points in the bag and Home United FC next travels to Bangkok to face PEA FC. PEA FC won their first match against Club Valencia 3-1 in Maldives.
